There are times in life when you are stricken with an utterly mind-blowing realization about yourself. These are life-changing moments, when your fears and doubts come to life, making light a new aspect of your being, bringing forth an undeniable truth about the person you are, no matter how badly you'd like to be wrong. Yesterday, this happened to me. I was on the Internet, minding my own business, reading about BIG BROTHER 7: All-Stars. I can say, honestly, that I am a BIG BROTHER fan. No soul-searching needed to rationalize this; BIG BROTHER is a very good show. However, I clicked on a link and found myself here, a story speculating about the possibility of Julie Chen being pregnant. I gave the posting a voracious read, and then it hit me, like a Tony Jaa knee to the face: I actually care about whether Julie Chen is pregnant or not.

At first, I did not know why I cared about this, but I did know it made me sick to my stomach. My relationship with Julie Chen is, admittedly, a one-way affair, so it's not like I feel “cheated” on. I am not delusional. My interactions with Mrs. Chen amount to watching her annoy the hell out of me, followed by me musing to myself, “How is it that this untalented, stiff-as-a-board, black hole of charisma still has a job on network television?” But, of course, I know the answer: Chen is married to CBS President Les Moonves. Then it came to me. I care about Chen's pregnancy for one reason and one reason only: it may lead to her retirement. Now, I'd be lying if I said the prospect of Julie Chen exiting Stage Right doesn't make me giddy as a schoolboy. It does. In fact, I'm squealing with delight right now.

Is she pregnant, though? I have studied the pictures and compiled the evidence, but there is no indisputable conclusion to be reached either way. However, all concrete evidence aside, I have come to believe the Julie Chen is pregnant. In fact, I am almost sure of it.

As my first piece of evidence, here is a screen cap from last Thursday's episode of BIG BROTHER 7: All-Stars:

Throughout the entire episode, Julie holds the cue card over her stomach just like you see in that cap. Granted, fans know that Chen always holds her cue cards waist-high, but there was a difference on Thursday's episode. In the past, Julie's arms become somewhat animated when she talks. If you go back and watch Thursday's show, you'll find that Julie takes extra care not to move her cue card at all, her arms unmoving.

Next we have the physical evidence:

Okay, again, this picture doesn't really “prove” anything, but if you delve deep, I think it's pretty telling. First, this is, by far, the clearest view that we got all night of Chen's belly area. That, in itself, is suspicious. However, the Elephant in the room here is Chen's past. Chen started out as a local reporter and, when she decided that she wanted to compete for the network gigs, she underwent a total physical overhaul, complete with a number of plastic surgeries (Don't believe me? Click here). Since hosting Big Brother, her physical appearance has been calculated and flawless. She has been extremely skinny and has had no qualms over displaying this svelteness. So, when I look at that picture, and see the slight bulge in her belly and the relatively thicker arms, the word “pregnant” immediately springs to mind. Is it possible that Julie has put on a little weight since last season? I suppose, but it doesn't seem likely, given how drastically she has altered her physical appearance over the years. Those who better themselves through plastic surgery tend to precisely maintain themselves going further. I suspect the only way Chen would allow herself to gain weight would be through pregnancy.

Yes, this could all be chalked up as wild speculation, but, to me, it just feels right. I've been watching BIG BROTHER for a few years now and did notice something different about the Chenbot Thursday, but didn't realize what until I saw that blog posting. Now, I am confident in my conclusion, and I think it goes beyond a simple hunch.

Verdict: Pregnant.
